Component Engraving

Date: October 2017

Brunel Engraving Company were approached by a customer within the FIT 4 Nuclear Group, the requirement was to engrave carbon steel profiles within a 24 hour deadline.

In addition to the tight deadline, the task was made even more difficult due to the size and weight of the items and the positon of the engraving. The larger one of the two components measured over 550mm in length and weighed in over 10kgs, meaning that special jigs had to be created in order hold the items securely and precise.

The profiles were to be used within a nuclear application and once engraved they would be sent for electroplating, this meant that the items had to be engraved to a depth, any surface marking would not be sufficient and would be removed during the plating process.
